Lifelong Extra Protection for Dogs

This is our most comprehensive policy. For 4 years in a row, Lifelong Extra Protection has been awarded a top 5-star rating by the prestigious, independent financial research company, Defaqto.

More peace of mind

Behaviour therapy fully covered

Behavioural therapy is very important especially for pets that have been adopted from rescue centres. With Pet Protect Lifelong Extra Protection, behavioural therapy is included within the vet fees benefit, so you get up to £6,000 per year towards it. And that can make all the difference to your family’s relationship with your pet. Your pet can be referred to a behavioural specialist by your vet. Once there, they can be treated for such problems as aggression or separation anxiety.

Congenital and hereditary conditions fully covered

This is important cover if you have a breed that has a predisposition to a congenital or hereditary condition that may have been transmitted through a parent. Unlike many other insurance policies, Pet Protect will cover a congenital or hereditary condition provided it is not present or apparent at the start of the policy. Examples of congenital and hereditary conditions are:

  • Hip dysplasia in German Shepherds and Labradors
  • Heart murmurs in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
  • Eye and skin problems in Shar Peis

Third party liability up to the sum of £2 million

If your pet were to cause injuries to a person, or damage someone’s property, you could be legally obliged to pay compensation. We’ll cover this up to £2 million so you don’t have to worry about it.

Up to 50% towards clinical diet foods

Diet is a more natural and non-invasive way of treating a variety of conditions. Clinical diets for dogs are often used to help treat heart disease, liver disease, joint problems, arthritis, digestive problems, bladder stones and skin diseases. Unlike other insurance companies, we'll pay up to half of the cost of a clinical diet your dog is prescribed, for life (as long as it is not to promote weight-loss).

£1,000 towards recovery costs

Shockingly, a staggering 5,700** dogs and cats are stolen every week. If your dog were to go missing, we’d be there to help with £1,000 to spend in advertising and reward money. And if the worst happened and you didn’t recover your pet, we’d also give you up to £1,500 to help you cope (loss by theft or straying).

Travel cover as standard

Travel out of the country with your dog without a worry. For up to 31 days a year, you will also be covered for up to £2,000 in emergency vet bills abroad. Quarantine costs, recovery costs and third party liability are also included. For a list of covered countries and more details please see our FAQ’s.
