Going On Holiday? Why Not Take Your Pet Too

It's that time of year when minds are turning to summer holidays and I for one like to include our family pet dog, Toffee. Holidays are a great opportunity to enjoy our pets as we have time for extra long walks and games.

When travelling within the UK you'll be surprised how many pet friendly Hotels and B&Bs there are, especially if you are travelling with a dog. While we enjoy trips both abroad and within the UK, recently, while investigating where to escape to for a short break, we came across a fantastic website which is full of places to stay throughout the UK that welcome you and your dog.

This has been the perfect solution for us as it eliminates the stress of having to find kennels or a dog sitter. With so many beautiful places in the UK with fantastic walks and great outdoor activities it's great to be able to find places that we can take Toffee along to and we can all enjoy a great British summer.

My partner and I are also considering taking Toffee with us when we venture to France later on this year. For those of you who are looking to travel further afield don't be discouraged by the fact that many airlines and Eurostar will not accept pets to travel, as the Eurotunnel and most other Ferry routes will, provided they remain in the car throughout the journey. So if you enjoy a good European road trip this is the way to do it!

For those who wish to take their pets on extended trips overseas there are also avenues to explore. I'm not going to say it's as simple as hopping on a bus with your pet but there are the option of participating in the Pet Travel Scheme (or PETS for short) on their website you will find lots of useful information about how to go about bringing your four-legged loved one into or back into the UK without putting it in quarantine. It also explains the requirements for bringing many other types of pet animals into the UK. There is also information on quarantine in the UK for animals that don't qualify for PETS.

So what's stopping you? Get their bags packed and happy holidays.

Best wishes,
Catrina and Toffee
