Pet Protect provides additional homes at Tameside Rabbit and Guinea Pig Rescue

In recognition of the impressive work carried out by Audenshaw-based Tameside Rabbit and Guinea Pig Rescue centre, and to mark National Rabbit Week, leading pet insurance provider Pet Protect has donated six additional hutches to help house abandoned rabbits and guinea pigs from the Manchester area.

National Rabbit Week, which runs from 21st-27th January, aims to educate the increasing number of rabbit owners about the items to consider when taking on a rabbit as a pet and the importance of considering the long-term health and welfare of their pet. The initiative will highlight the importance of diet in preventing illness and raise awareness of issues such as the rise in rabbit obesity.

Elaine who runs the rescue comments, "I am delighted that Pet Protect has decided to support my rescue by providing additional hutches. I hope that National Rabbit Week will help me to raise awareness of my centre and ultimately find good homes for the rabbits I am currently looking after. I also hope that people will make sure that they do their research before they take on rabbits. They are a significant and long term commitment"

Henrietta Corcoran, Marketing Manager, Pet Protect, comments, "We are delighted to provide Tameside Rabbit and Guinea Pig Centre with additional hutches and to support an initiative that focuses on responsible, committed pet ownership, something which we advocate strongly at Pet Protect".
