Eastbourne cat scoops top prize
Judith and David Evans have won a year's supply of cat food for their cat, Blackie, in a competition run by pet insurance company Pet Protect. Judith had taken Blackie to St Anne's Veterinary Practice in Eastbourne, after Blackie had a nasty scratch from fighting.
Judith commented 'I picked up a number of pet insurance leaflets as I thought I should take some precaution in case Blackie got into any more fights. I had a number of quotes from different companies and decided to insure Blackie with Pet Protect. Their leaflet also featured the competition to win a years' supply of pet food, which I completed and sent off. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I heard that Blackie had won!'
To buy their year's supply of pet food, Judith and Blackie were presented with £200 in Pets at Home vouchers at the St Anne's Surgery, and a further £20 worth of pet food to last until they could get to the store. Their vet Jim Dash was present to witness the presentation. He commented, "This could not have gone to a nicer or more deserving couple. They obtained Blackie just over a year ago from a rescue centre in Seaford. I am a strong believer in the concept of pet insurance, and it is great to see a proactive company rewarding responsible pet owners.
Crawley kitten wins prize for owners
Four-month-old tortoiseshell kitten, Mercedes, has helped her lucky owner, Linda Mitchell, win £20 worth of Marks & Spencer vouchers.
Linda Mitchell entered the competition at her local vet's office in Crawley. The 'While-U-Wait quiz' competition was run by pet insurance company Pet Protect, with the aim of giving pet owners something to do while waiting for their turn at the vets.
'It was such a surprise to win' said Linda from Three Bridges in Crawley, 'as with most competitions I totally forgot that I had entered'.
'I wanted to insure my new kitten, Mercedes, and my vet provided me with a number of leaflets within my Kitten pack. I decided to go with Pet Protect because they provide lifelong cover, which will give me the peace of mind that Mercedes is covered for the rest of her life.'
Crewe dog wins pet food for a year
Honey the Yorkshire Terrier has delighted her owner Marissa Evetts by winning a year's supply of pet food. Mrs Evetts entered the competition, run by pet insurance company Pet Protect, at her local veterinary surgery. She sent in the competition entry while waiting at Baron & Johnson Veterinary Surgery, Crewe. 'I was so surprised when Pet Protect contacted me to say I had won', she commented 'I had quite forgotten all about it.'
Honey will be flavour of the month at home in Edleston Road in Crewe with her friends and house mates - three cats named Sapphire, Baby and Inka - as Honey prefers to eat cat food. Honey likes dried cat food and all four pets often snuggle up together and lick each other. 'I often wonder whether Honey thinks she is a cat too' said Mrs Evetts.
Mr Johnson, the vet who cares for all Mrs Evetts' pets, confirmed that a diet of cat food will do Honey no harm. 'In fact it provides a good nutritional diet for small dogs, especially if supplemented with fresh meat occasionally.'
