Pet Insurance providers say watch what your dog eats this Christmas
Specialist pet insurance provider, Pet Protect; has published a list on its website of the indigestible and potentially dangerous items eaten by dogs during the festive season. The survey of these 'doggy indigestibles' was carried out amongst nearly 1000 vets across the UK.
Novelty Christmas items included Santa hats, baubles, tinsel and Christmas cake reindeers. Children's toys did not escape, with particular canine favorites being Spiderman, Thomas the Tank Engine, King Kong and various Barbie body parts.
Ruth Cottam, Pet Protect's Claims Manager and Veterinary Nurse, comments, "Vets continue to be amazed at what dogs find attractive to eat. If you don't want to spend your time at the vets this festive season take extra care and avoid leaving small objects lying around. It is not only children that you need to watch out for especially in the general pandemonium that usually accompanies present opening."
